Schedule: Project-based with flexible hours. Projects and deadlines will be provided in advance based on The Happiest Market's upcoming events and merchandise needs.
Pay: Based on the designer's rates and scope of each project. Applicants will be asked to provide their pricing as part of the application.
Location: Remote
Commitment: We're looking to build an ongoing relationship with a designer who can work with The Happiest Market on merchandise projects throughout the year. The frequency and number of projects may vary based on our upcoming events and product needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Create original designs for The Happiest Market merchandise, including shirts, stickers, pins, patches, tote bags, and other products

  • Develop creative concepts based on provided themes, ideas, and inspiration

  • Design within The Happiest Market's existing brand and aesthetic

  • Translate ideas and creative direction into finished artwork

  • Make reasonable revisions based on feedback

  • Prepare and provide high-quality, production-ready artwork in the file formats needed for manufacturing or printing

  • Communicate throughout the design process and meet agreed-upon project deadlines

  • Collaborate with The Happiest Market on new merchandise and product ideas

Requirements:

  • Strong illustration and/or graphic design skills

  • All designs must be original, human-created artwork. The use of generative AI or AI-generated imagery is not permitted at any stage of the design process

  • Experience creating artwork for merchandise or physical products preferred

  • Ability to work within an established brand style while bringing your own creativity to each project

  • Comfortable receiving creative direction, feedback, and revision requests

  • Able to meet agreed-upon deadlines and communicate if any issues arise

  • Knowledge of preparing artwork for print and/or product manufacturing preferred

  • Able to provide high-resolution and editable design files when required

  • Must provide examples of previous design work or a portfolio

  • Familiarity with programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, or similar design software

  • Understanding of commercial usage and creating original artwork
